Overview of the Carter Lake Water Treatment Plant

The Carter Lake treatment plant is jointly owned and operated by Little Thompson Water District and the Central Weld County Water District. Located at the south end of Carter Lake near Berthoud, CO, the facility plays a vital role in delivering safe, dependable drinking water to homes, businesses and agricultural users throughout the region.

Carter Lake Filter Plant Capacity and Infrastructure

The Carter Lake Filter Plant consists of two treatment facilities designed to meet both current and future water demands.

North and South Treatment Facilities

The North Plant, completed in 2007, treats up to 30 million gallons per day. The South Plant, originally built in 1995 and expanded in 2001, treats up to 20 million gallons per day.

Plant Capacity and Regional Service Area

Together, the facilities can treat approximately 50 million gallons of water per day, supporting long-term water needs for Northern Colorado communities.
